Marking the end of the second year of the project, on 18-20 September 2024 EPOC scientists gathered in Reading, UK for a 3-day conference to showcase results so far, discuss progress and plan in detail the work to come in the next year. Hosted by the University of Reading, the meeting featured reflections on progress in each of the work packages, a series of science presentations by the project’s early career researchers, and breakout discussions groups focused on specific cross-thematic issues. The meeting programme included presentations from EU-funded ‘sister’ research projects OCEAN:ICE and EERIE, and updates from other complementary AMOC projects ALPACA, RAPID-Evolution and MESACLIP.

The meeting schedule allowed plenty of opportunities for the EPOC group to discuss project issues in a more informal setting – and of course, time set aside for the traditional EPOC group photo. Many thanks to Jon Robson and colleagues at the University of Reading for hosting a successful meeting!
